Lauren and Vincent met in London back in 2012 and soon after settled in Sydney, where Ayana Jewellery was reborn. Vincent, with his marketing background, supports Ayana with branding, product development and web design expertise.

FAIRINA CHENG

Fairina Cheng is an independent designer who believes that in jewellery – just as in life – there are no rules. She specialises in unconventional designs for rule breakers and story makers. These are people who aren’t served by the traditional jewellery store and aren’t satisfied with stock-standard, mass-market accessories. Jewellery design found Fairina in July 2009 after an offhand decision to take an evening course. She picked up her first jewellers’ saw in a small Sydney workshop, and fell in love. A week later, she had decided to pursue jewellery as a career.

Fairina has five years of formal training in jewellery design and manufacture at the Design Centre Enmore. Sitting between the artistic and the commercial, Fairina combines both perspectives to create work that is well-made, with a twist of something special. GABRIELLA LUCHINI

Gabriella approaches jewellery as a form of treasure handed down from past generations. Her intuitive practice leads her to draw on the earthy yet romantic aesthetic of her Italian heritage, always caught somewhere between reality and fantasy. Borrowing elements of design from romantic architectural and art revival periods in history, Gabriella implements them with modern refinement to create modern heirlooms.

L GREENWALT JEWELLERY

L.Greenwalt Jewelry, formerly known as Loop Jewelry, was founded in Portland, Oregon during the fall of 2012, and is the wife and husband team of Designer / Maker, Lauren Greenwalt, and Co-Owner / Maker / Artist, Kieron Thomas.

Inspiration for L.Greenwalt Jewelry stems strongly from the geometric motifs of the Art Deco era and the sensuous fluidity of Art Nouveau creations. Each piece incorporates nuances from the past—but with a new twist. The result is a channeling of classical designs with Lauren's own artistic vision added, making L.Greenwalt Jewelry not just an item of personal adornment but a piece of art as well.

LEONIE SIMPSON

Leonie is a designer and maker of jewellery and objects. Based in Sydney, she creates small run jewellery collections, bespoke pieces and individual commissions. She studied jewellery and object design at The Design Centre, Enmore. Her work is currently stocked and exhibited in selected galleries and stores across Australia.

“I am interested in the sculptural qualities of jewellery that respond to the unique movements of the human body. A lot of my work currently uses traditional methods, especially wax carving. Using these techniques allow my work to bridge between the traditional and cultural methods of crafting and sculpting jewellery, and the precision of contemporary manufacturing and production techniques.”

LITTLE BY LITTLE JEWELLERY

Little by Little Jewellery is a British jewellery brand founded in 2015 by Annabel Cox, a jewellery designer with a love for beautifully engineered designs with sustainablility at their heart, and Georgina Fuggle, food editor, cookery book writer and photographer.

Little by Little's collections are inspired by the natural beauty found in food and are lovingly created using gold, silver and touches of enamel. Whether worn individually or as part of a set, each piece is impacting and eminently wearable, bringing a little ethical luxury into your everyday.

MINIMA JEWELLERY

MINIMA Jewellery was founded by Chelsey Over, who handcrafts beautiful, minimal jewellery in her Norfolk studio in the UK. Each piece is a timeless classic and perfect for everyday wear.

Chelsey adores jewellery and especially loves the subtle shine and sparkle of delicate minimal pieces - they are understated, yet sophisticated, and ever modern. Originally from New Zealand, it wasn't until many years spent in London that Chelsey developed an interest in jewellery. Constantly surrounded by beautiful sights in a city rich in culture & design, she fell in love with London's little independent boutiques & all that they housed. With this as inspiration, and being a self- confessed magpie, Chelsey took various courses in Metalsmithing and MINIMA was born as a result.

NATALIE FILIPPATOU

Established in 2019, Natalie Filippatou jewellery was born out of an appreciation for ancient art, iconography and deities. With moderation at the core of her design ethos, Natalie crafts pieces that are breathtaking in their simplicity and beautifully complex in their individuality. Hand-made in her Melbourne based studio, Natalie's pieces are made to order using ethically sourced materials.

RACHAEL GRIGULIS

Rachael has been making jewellery for some time now and believes that a piece of jewellery is not just a visual object that makes a statement about who we are and what we value but it should also be tactile and fun. Her work is intended to not just be worn but to be touched and felt. For her, tactile is not only for the wearer, but for herself the maker too. It is about the entire process; concept; design; refinement; problem solving; construction; and finally the satisfaction and honor of having a little something of hers fill a little corner of happiness for another.

She completed a Bachelor of Design in Jewellery and Metalsmithing through the University of South Australia in the 1992 and soon after had a piece purchased as a Contemporary Art Acquisition by the Art Gallery of South Australia. This was just the beginning of her exhibiting for the next years through Australia and Japan.

Her work reflects her love of architecture, art deco forms, Japanese minimalism, and a fascination for how things work and fit together. She refers to her making process as design and construction, using traditional handmade techniques to construct contemporary works that are tactile, well made and unique incorporating clean lines and contrasting materials. She has always had a love of architecture and an appreciation of geometric forms; clean lines; contrasting materials; the combinations of uniqueness with functionality/practicality.

REDPEG ECO STUDIO

Redpeg Eco Studio was established by Gabrielle McGrath. Her initial focus was large constructed steel sculpture, which she exhibited regionally and nationally for about 10 years after graduating from The National Art School (ESTC) in Sydney. She moved from sculpture into jewellery design, having always been passionate about jewellery and body adornment and seeing them as essentially mini sculptures. Gabrielle uses her sculptors eye, hand and thought process to create art that is draws on construction techniques of a much larger piece.

“My jewellery and wearable art is handcrafted with a native tribal-like aesthetic, a long way from the "traditional" western style jewellery. I construct my pieces with a lot of beating and forging of the metal. I like to find form and aesthetic through texture and pattern and quite often a mistake makes for a pleasant surprise.”

SHABANA JACOBSON

Contemporary Jeweller Shabana Jacobson has been making beautiful one-off pieces of jewellery for the last 14 years. Having completed a year of study at NMIT (diploma of engineering technology-specialising in jewellery) in 2011 to gain some valuable skills, she is mostly a self-taught jeweller. Her fine arts background is evident in all of her work and the combination of materials and various styles is a unique style of jewellery found in Shabana Jacobson's work.

Shabana’s work is currently stocked in over 300 boutique shops and galleries Australia and NZ wide including The National Gallery of Australia - ACT, The National Gallery of NSW, The National Portrait Gallery, Studio Melt, and specialist contemporary jewellery galleries.

TARA LOFHELM

Tara Lofhelm is a jewellery designer and maker based in Melbourne, Australia. Crafting her jewellery using stamping and embellishing techniques, she creates hand-formed, one-off pieces which express tactility, texture and the hand of the maker. Her high attention to detail culminates in quality pieces of simplistic beauty, which belie their considered design approach to functionality and wearability. Tara’s aesthetic is influenced by many varied sources, including travel to exotic locations, ancient civilizations, texture, colour, or simply the physical properties of the materials she works with. Her work is one of contrast, as are the ideas that inspire it.

Tara completed an Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Jewellery) at Northern Metropolitan Institute of TAFE in 2008. She has since worked from a private studio in Brunswick, producing commercial ranges, private commissions and exhibition pieces.

“My jewellery explores the repetition of line and pattern, and the meditative effect conjured by this repetitive work. Hand stamped and embellished, blow by blow, my shapes form as a reaction to the making process, making each piece individual and unique. Demonstrating the hand of the maker they aim to preserve a definitive, singular moment in time.”
